    Who’s Caruso Menswear

    Raffaele Caruso founded his atelier in Soragna, in the province of Parma, in 1958. From a small Neapolitan tailoring workshop transplanted to Emilia, Caruso has grown over time into one of the benchmarks of Italian menswear tailoring.

    Today, more than 450 artisans work at the Soragna headquarters, producing fully hand-canvassed jackets with horsehair canvas construction, suits, and complete looks for a high-end international clientele.

    The brand dresses actors, creatives, and tastemakers around the world and is present in some of the most exclusive boutiques across major global markets. Caruso is both a style brand and a manufacturing partner for some of the most important maisons in international luxury.

    The Challenge

    High-end menswear tailoring works with fabrics that leave no room for error: Prince of Wales wool, tartan, checks, pinstripes, and flannels with precise geometric patterns. On these materials, aligning patterns down to the millimetre is not an aesthetic detail — it is the difference between a luxury garment and a rejected piece.

    With industrial-scale manufacturing volumes and atelier-level quality standards, Caruso needed a solution capable of solving three problems at once: quality control of incoming fabric, precise pattern alignment in automatic marker making, and optimised management of panel cutting.

    Three separate operations, to be controlled within a single, continuous production flow.

    IRIS and CAD suite

    Caruso adopted IRIS, the artificial vision system developed by Crea Solution, integrated with the automatic marker-making platform. The system operates on three distinct and complementary levels.

    **Vision and quality control.** IRIS high-resolution cameras analyse the fabric surface in real time, detecting defects, imperfections, and structural anomalies before cutting begins. Each issue is identified and managed without stopping the line.

    **Automatic marker making with pattern recognition.** IRIS automatically recognises checks, stripes, and geometric patterns on the fabric and uses them as references for marker placement. Pattern alignment is guaranteed with millimetre-level precision on every roll and every batch, without depending on operator interpretation.

    **Panel cutting.** The system specifically manages the cutting of panels — components that require particularly tight shape and alignment tolerances — optimising marker placement to reduce waste and ensure consistency between the components of the same garment.

      The alignment of checks and stripes no longer depends on the eye and experience of each individual operator. IRIS guarantees it across every shift, every batch, and every fabric, with the same precision as the first cut.
    • Defects detected before damage is done
      Quality control takes place before cutting, not after garment assembly. Defects are automatically excluded from the cutting area, with immediate recalculation of the marker. Less waste, fewer reworks, less material lost.
    • Optimised and traceable panel cutting
      Dedicated panel management reduces error tolerances on the garment’s most critical components. The flow from marker making to cutting is continuous, traceable, and requires no additional manual intervention.
