TWINSET is a brand born from a distinctly Italian and deeply feminine vision. Its founder, Simona Barbieri, originally from Modena, created a unique style in the early 1990s at first, almost exclusively knitwear. The brandās romantic, elegant, and bold identity quickly won over a wide audience, becoming a reference point for many women who connected with its aesthetic. This success was also fueled by the support and creative vision of her husband, Tiziano Sgarbi, who worked alongside her as creative director.
TWINSET embraces an inclusive philosophy: every collection is designed for all women, regardless of age or generation. Today, the company is entirely owned by private equity firm Carlyle, led in Italy by Marco De Benedetti, and continues to grow while remaining true to its identity.
From an operational perspective, TWINSET has successfully integrated advanced technologies to optimize its production chain. The adoption of integrated CAD and PLM systems has made both the creative and production processes extremely fluid and efficient. The patternmaking department works in a highly digitalized environment, where creating or editing models can be done swiftly. Thanks to compatibility with proprietary file formats from other software, patternmakers can easily exchange data with external labs while preserving all technical information.
Within the Crea CAD environment, patternmakers stay constantly connected with the PLM system, enabling real-time management of fabric records, model data, size charts, and all necessary quality control information. The PLM also allows for direct model visualization, making the entire process more transparent and collaborative.
But TWINSETās innovation goes well beyond patternmaking. The entire supply chain from supplier management to process oversight is monitored through a single platform integrated with the PLM. This system enables workflow optimization based on the time gaps between supply and demand, allowing for precise planning. All supply chain stakeholders, regardless of geographic location, can access real-time, always-updated data a critical asset in a globalized market governed by ever-evolving regulations.
The integration between internal and external processes enables the company to plan production down to the smallest detail: from raw material forecasting to reverse logistics management, every step is efficiently organized and interconnected.
Demonstrating its commitment to the future of fashion, TWINSET has launched a collaboration with Crea Solution aimed at identifying and promoting young talent. Through a contest involving students from IPSIA Vallauri and IPSIA Cattaneo-Deledda institutes in Carpi, the two companies encourage creativity and innovation in the next generation. Participants are invited to create hand-drawn sketches of Red Carpet designs, based on 3D models developed in VStitcher, combining artistic skills with advanced digital technologies.
In this way, TWINSET continues its path toward an evolved industrial model, one that combines creative identity, sartorial quality, and digital transformation, while staying true to the authentic values of Made in Italy.
